Alhaji Ibrahim Mohammed Ajia, the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP), House of Representatives candidate for Ilorin West/Asa Federal Constituency in 2023 general election has approved a monthly support of N500,000 for women sweepers in Alore area, of the state capital.
The philanthropist made this disclosure at a visit on Monday to the affected women after making the donation of the first installment.
According to him, the visit was meant to show empathy, solidarity with them and offer hope for the suffering women who were disengaged from their regular paid jobs of sweeping the streets and main roads in the metropolis during the PDP administration.
“I am here today to sympathise with our mothers who have suffered for this state, many of them were laid off from their government paid jobs and have been going through pains and agony.
“I am here to assure them that their pains will soon be over,” he said.
Ajia promised that things will change for better if PDP takes over government.
“When PDP take over Nigeria, Kwara and all levels of governance, they will continue to enjoy those things they used to get when PDP was in power.
“I sympathise with them on the current situation in Nigeria as the commodity prices have skyrocketed, making situations worse for many households.
“I sympathise with them as they go through pains when they send their children to school.
“I encourage them not to lose hope and assured them that the government that cares for people is about to come.
“There role is to pray for us and vote. I also admonished them to be patient, steadfast and resolute in whatever they believe in.
Some of the women who expressed gratitude to Alhaji Ajia, said, our suffering is getting worst on daily basis.
“We enjoyed so much during Bukola Saraki and Abdullah Ahmed administrations.
“We were usually paid N6000 and through our savings; we do a lot of things and cater for our families.
“But now, noting is moving well again”, said Umar Bilikis, one of the sweepers.
The House of Rep candidate was later taken to a historic location in the community to receive blessings and special prayer, led by Alhaji Shehu, Alfaagba Alore, where they prayed Allah to grant Alhaji Ajia his heart desires.
Also, at the PDP Ajikobi Constituency, Alhaji Ajia addressed the Youth Wing, that comprises of youths who came out in their numbers, from Ajikobi ward, Ojuekunzarumi ward, Ogidi and Oloje ward .
The chairman of the Constituency, Alhaji Ibrahim Majo, appreciated the candidate for making the party proud.
One of the speakers at the event Lukman Saad, said that the major challenge confronting youths in their area is empowerment.
He called for regular visit by the House of Representatives candidate, adding that they have mobilise youths for increased support for the party but they needed someone that will be representing them.
In his submission, Hon Ataragba, chairman committee on media for the constituency appealed to Alhaji Ajia, saying that he should ensure that local government authonmy comes to stay.
He also called for creation of more local govt in Kwara and provision of means of transport for them to be moving and supporting his campaign.
He added that their media -team need sponsorship.
Similarly, chairman committee on empowerment, Professor Saka Salman said they have been looking for a day like this to see him. He sought support from Ajia on proposed empowerment scheme.
In his response, Alhaji Ajia, said his visit was to appreciate the youths and women, who encouraged him to contest.
Alhaji Ajia, explained that the work of PDP at he national level has been keeping him on and off town, that’s why he is not regular at the secretariat.
“If you look at what is happening in Nigeria today, PDP youths can liberate the state and the country at large.
“Members should understand they are the candidates, and so should put in more efforts for the party to win in the election
“What remains is the polling units exercise and harmonization, put in all efforts at this time to deliver all the candidates of our party
“You should improve your efforts at polling units; you should form stakeholders not less than 10 people and give them task to secure a total number of supporters in each polling unit.
“If Atiku wins in Kwara; we will have a say, based on cordial relationship between Atiku and Saraki.”
Further more , Alhaji Ajia also visited Alanamu youth constituency of the PDP that comprises of Alanamu, Ubandawaki and Adewole ward who came out in the numbers to show supports for candidates and party .
The candidate, equally assured the gathering of responsible representation and urge them to work together as one family to ensure victory for the party.
The chaimann of the constituency, Mallam Abdulganiyu presented Al Quran to the candidate as a gift to guide him throughout the campaign.
The chaiman of the constituency introduced the committee on empowerment and polling units to him, even as he directed them to give Alhaji Ibrahim Ajia reports of their activities so far.
The candidate, thanked the women and youths, for their commitment and urged them to remain steadfast in their pursuit of victory at the general election in 2023.
Alhaji Ibrahim Ajia used that opportunity to launch the two face Giant Billboard constructed by Isiak Alase to show support and endorse him to make sure 2023 victory come to light.
