Plateau assembly suspends entire LG chairmen

All 17 chairmen of Local Government Areas (LGAs) of Plateau state have been suspended by members of the state assembly.

They were suspended on Thursday June 1, 2023 during their plenary presided over by the Speaker, Abok Ayuba.

Their suspension followed a motion moved by the lawmaker representing Langtang North -North constituency, Pirfa Tyem.

They were accused of financial impropriety leveled against them through a petition to the House by the new state governor, Caleb Mutfwang.

Ayuba, who announced their suspension after the motion was passed, directed the council officials to handover all government properties in their possession to the director of personnel management while investigation into the allegations against them commences.
