Police Officers’ Wife Association (POWA) has lauded the Kwara State Governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for his commitment to good governance and the welfare of members of the association.
Mrs Lucy Odama, Chairperson of the association gave the commendation on Wednesday during the disbursement of traders’ moni (Owo-Isowo) to wives of police officers at the police command headquarters in Ilorin.
Expressing appreciation on behalf of the beneficiaries, the wife of the police commissioner,
Mrs Odama, who is the wife of the Commissioner of Police in the state, said the gesture would remain indelible in the memories of the beneficiaries, majority of whom were widows and less privileged members.
“Part of what the governor has done especially for police officers’ wives in the state, among many others were the renovation of blocks of flats at Police Mobile Barracks in Kulende, Ilorin; contribution to the POWA Vocational Centre, GRA, Ilorin; ongoing digging of 16 boreholes in police barracks across the local government areas to ease water challenge in the barracks; distribution of palliatives to police officers wives during the COVID-19 pandemic and many others.
“Our ears are filled with the tales of your goodness, love of your people and fear of God.
“We want to promise you that as wives of the police we will continue to support and encourage our husbands with peace of mind to enable them to perform their duties diligently and efficiently.
“On this note, we want to thank you most heartily for this gesture and life-saving empowerment to members of this association on behalf of the recipients and police officers generally.
“I thank you so much for the love you have for the youth and women in Kwara State,” said the leader of police officers’ wives.
The disbursement, which was carried out by the General Manager, State Social Investment Programme, Abdulquawiy Olododo was witnessed by the Governor and State Commissioner of Police among others.
