Presidential Council wants NIMC to review charges on passport

The Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council (PEBEC) has asked the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) to address concerns over the new charges introduced for the integration of and verification of passport applications.

In a statement, Dr. Jumoke Oduwole, Special Adviser to the President, Ease of Doing Business/PEBEC Secretary said the introduced charge of N1,000 with effect from April 1 should be reviewed to make the services cheaper and assessable to all.

According to the statement, the introduction of the NIN by the Nigerian Immigration Service has improved the quality of service, however the additional cost for each applicant has not been well received by stakeholders.
