School Feeding: FG Trains 32 Cooks in Kwara on Safe Hygiene

No fewer than thirty-two (32) Kwara women have been trained on child nutrition in one-day capacity training programme, organised by the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster And Social Development.

Speaking at the cooks training on the national home-growth feeding programme at Industrial training fund (ITF) office Asa Dam Road Ilorin, Kwara State, the Area Manager Industrial Training fund Ilorin, Mrs Temitayo Quadri said the training is to improve services in terms of hygiene, health care that would benefit the school children.

“the gathering is about the national home school feeding programme that is facilitated by the federal Ministry of humanitarian affairs. ITF has been chosen to be one of the centres to train the trainees for a cooking programme, we are expecting the best performance from the trainees though they have been doing it in the past we actually want something better so that they can be an impact of this training on them not teaching them exactly how to cook but how to improve their services in terms of hygiene, interms of health care interms of other areas that we think will benefit these school children.

“In ITF we train in three H that is in the heart, the head and the hands, skills acquisition training, the head of course impact knowledge, the hands, of course, it is a skill and the heart in terms of the attitude that anything you are doing with your hand’s skills acquisition is the key to the 24-century cooking is part of it is a welcome development that this programme is extended to school children, we want these people in which we are training to complement the works of their hands with a good attitude even though they are not being seen.

“Two trainees were selected from each local government of Kwara State and we have 16 local governments so 32 people are seated here.

“My advice to them is that they should not rest on their oars and anything they are doing they should put in their best develop themselves more, they should not limit themselves to what they are doing now, look for other areas in which they can explore opportunities so that the programme will not just come and its end their, there should be a continuity but the continuity will be based on their participation here and also their delivery because some of them have done this programme in the past and they are still being selected again so is supposed to be a continuos thing and at the end of the day there should be multiplayer effect of it so that this thing can spread out and at the end of the day people will gain much about it.” She said

Speaking on behalf of the Participants Hajia Zainab Aliu from Patigi local government area of Kwara state expressed delight at the training Programme she said “we learnt a lot, especially on personal hygiene and how to prepare the food in the best way for the children, we have to take care of food items and everything, we have to make a well-balanced diet for children in order not to give them malnutrition there must be hygiene is a very good programme we benefit a lot in it” she said
