Senate spokesman, Basiru loses senate seat

The candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Fadeyi Olubiyi has won Osun Central Senatorial District election to defeat the Senate spokesperson, Dr. Ajibola Basiru.

The PDP also cleared three House of Representatives seats in the state.

Olubiyi polled 134,229 to defeat Basiru, of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who garnered 117,609.

For the House of Representatives, Bamidele Salam of the PDP was re-elected to represent Ede North/Ede South/Egbedore/Ejigbo Federal Constituency.

He polled 64,236 to defeat Atanda Bello of the APC who got 35,444 votes. 

Also, the result announced by Prof Isiaq Egbewole showed that Adewale Adebayo of the PDP won in Osogbo/Olorunda/Orolu/Irepodun Federal Constituency.

He got 71,677 to defeat Abosede Kasumu of the APC, who scored 58,992 votes.

The PDP candidate who represents Ife Federal Constituency, Taofeek Ajilesoro, was reelected.

According to the Presiding Officer, Prof Abdulfatai Makinde, Ajilesoro got 53,078 votes while APC’s Benjamin Adereti scored 51,051.

The results of the remaining two senatorial districts and eight federal constituencies have not been officially obtained as at the time of filing this report. ( Western post)
