The chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Ward Congress Appeal Committee assigned to Kwara state, Barrister Yusuf Bako has called on party members that have complain in respect of the recently held Ward Congress to submit their petition within 24 hours and be assured of justice.
Barrister Bako, who led four members Ward Congress Appeal Committee to the state made the call during the meeting with the party stakeholders in the state held at the Banquet Hall, Ilorin, to intimate party members on the process and procedures the Committee would deploy in discharging its assignment.
Said “We are here in kwara to perform one single task, you could recalled that towards the end of July, we held Ward Congresses all over the federation in our great party, as a family whenever anything like that happened it’s expected that not everybody will be happy, but every problem has its own solution, and it’s for this reason that the National party sent us here to look into all this problems and proffer solution, there is nothing that can be above solution, if there is cooperation among the family members”
“The APC in Kwara is a family, I am sure whatever problem you have , it will be resolved. Our assignment is strictly restricted to Ward Congress. If there is anything you are not happy with, you have chance to appeal” he said
Added that the Committee will be operating from the APC state secretariat, located at Commissioner’s lodge way, G.R.A, Ilorin, and have only five days to attend to all complain brought to their table, starting from today, Monday, 16th of August.
Welcoming the Appeal Committee to the state, the state party’s chairman, Abdullahi Samari urged party members to go about submitting their complain peacefully, if any, saying “we are one big family in the party with mechanism of solving problems”
Samari also disclosed that the party working committee has identified some shortcomings in the last Ward Congress and going to be addressed such in the future congresses.
Addressing the committee and party members, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, called on all members in the state to embrace peace and be tolerant to one another, pledging to further lay his hands on what will strengthen the party under his watch.
“I like to thank the Appeal Committee for being with us today I am very sure the committee is going to be fair to out peace loving people. Even if we have one or two reasons to be angry, I am sure it is something we can settle them amicably, God’s willing,” the Governor said through his deputy Kayode Alabi who represented him at the event.
He enjoined participants to always show prioritize loving one another and be neighbourly, saying members should not allow themselves to be used against one another.
“I heard the last speaker talking about wilderness, we will never go back to Egypt by the grace of God. But we need to do one thing – we need to show love and respect to one another. We need that self respect for elders. Self respect for individuals, before we can move farward. We got elected because the people wanted us to look after power not ourselves. And that is what Otoge stands for. Otoge is deliverance from poverty, a deliverance from captivity. I thank the committee and all party faithfuls for coming,”
Special Adviser to the Governor on Political Matters, Alhaji Abdullateef Alakawa said the large turnout of the party faithful was a reflection of affirmation of people’s confidence in AbdulRazaq as a leader of the party in the state.
Speaker Kwara House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Yakubu Danladi Salihu in his vote of thanks said the massive presence of members is an indication of how united the APC family are in the state.
He thanked the Appeal Committee for their assurances and resolve to solve whatever problem reported, saying Kwara APC is a united family and will continue to stick to any thing that will foster unity.
We could recalled that the Committee had earlier inaugurated by the Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC) at the party National Secretariat, Abuja, last week.
