A Non-Governmental Organization, Wadata Media and Advocacy Center (WAMAC) has commended the Kwara State Government for action taken on a staff of the Ministry of Education alleged to be involved in job racketeering.
The commendation is made in a press statement released by the organisation and signed by its Executive Director/ Team Lead, Zubair ABDURRA’UF IDRIS, and made available to the Accurate News Nigeria.
The statement read in part “ The querying and transfer of an alleged job racketeer, Hammed Olawale Saka, a staff of the Kwara State Ministry of Education is a welcome development to checkmate corruption in the civil service.
“WAMAC had on the 22nd May 2023 in collaboration with its media partner Albarka FM 89.9 FM investigated and exposed how Mr Hammed Olawale Saka of the Kwara state Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development had allegedly swindled nine individuals with false promises to secure them employment in the state civil service.
“WAMAC investigations uncovered that Olawale Saka collected the sum of fifty thousand naira from each of his victims to secure them employment in the Kwara state civil service.
“The government took the action after Wamac exposed this corruption allegation and how Mr Hameed Olawale inflicted hardship on his victims.
“At WAMAC, we believe that the querying and subsequent transfer of the Job racketeer from the ministry is a step in the right direction towards ensuring probity, accountability and development in the civil service.
“We urge the State Civil Service to look beyond querying and transferring the culprit, we recommend that the States should constitute a high-powered committee to investigate all cases of job racketeering and prosecute all those culpable to serve as a deterrent”.
