The management of the Kwara State College of Arabic and Islamic Legal Studies (CAILS), Ilorin, has said that the institution’s certificate is acceptable for direct entry in Nigerian and international higher institutions.

Speaking with newsmen in Ilorin on Tuesday, the acting provost of the college, Dr Sa’ad Hadi, explained that the inability of some students to register for JAMB direct entry last year was due to new policies introduced by the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) in its efforts to make certificates being presented for direct entry admission uniform and sanitised.

Hadi , who said that the JAMB policies affected both its Kwara-CAILS-KWASU foundation programme and CAILS regular programmes, added that the policies also affected many institutions in the country.

“We have been able to address this issue to ensure our students are not disadvantaged. Both the vice chancellor and the registrar of Kwara State University (KWASU), Malete are now signing the certificates of our regular diploma students as currently demanded by JAMB and now acceptable”, he said.

Hadi also said that the National Diploma programmes of the college are under the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), adding that they have no problem of acceptability to JAMB for direct entry admissions into the nation’s and international universities.

Reacting to the recent derogatory remarks about the College certificates on social media, the acting provost described such as unfounded rumours, “peddled by those who could not verify the facts of the matter.

Hadi, who said that CAILS is a community-initiated institution established to cater for the peculiar needs of the community, added that the management is committed to satisfying its stakeholders.

“Additionally, our programmes combine traditional Islamic teachings with modern academic disciplines, preparing students for diverse career paths.

“In terms of programmes, our strategic plan for the next few years focuses on expanding academic offerings, improving quality, and enhancing students support services. We aim to position Kwara-CAILS to meet with the needs of Education dynamism”, he said.
