Expert Calls on Muslims to Emulate Behavior of Prophet Companions

Ustaz Ismail Al-Sunni, a professional Qur’an teacher has called on Muslims to emulate behavior of the companions of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) in order to live a good life.

Al-Sunni made the call on Monday, in Ilorin, during the Annual Ramadan Lecture, organised by Association of Model Islamic Schools, Kwara Chapter.

The guest speaker narrated the history of Sayyidina Umar Ibn Al-Khattab, a student and companion of the prophet, explaining his good attitude and loyalty to Islam.

He therefore urged Muslims to be bold like Sayyidina Umar and be ready to share their knowledge without fear or shyness.

Al-Sunni, however, called on Muslims to be humble and trustworthy, just like the companions of the prophet.

“To be a true Muslim, you must love Almighty Allah and prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) more than yourself and emulate the good attitude of the companions of the prophet.

“Sayyidina Umar was the 40th person to accept Islam, five years before migrating to Medinah (584 AD) and titled Al-Farooq (someone who can separate truth from falsehood).

“He was the first companion to show boldness about Islam, fought in all the battle with the prophet and became the second Caliph after the death of the prophet,” Al-Sunni narrated.

The speaker advised Muslims to be just in their dealings and shun any form of cheating and misconduct.

Dr Aliyu Badmus, National Vice President of the Association and Proprietor of IQRA Schools, Ilorin, said that the motive of organising the programme was to create awareness in students.

“There are many activities in Ramadan and we plan to bring our children together in other for them to meet, exchange ideas and network.

“They were able to learn from each other through summarising the speakers sermon in one minute, after been grouped according to their schools.

The State Chairman of the association, Alhaji Tahjudeen Bolaji called on Owners of Islamic Schools to tighten their belt and produce good products that would be good ambassadors in future.

“Let us all work hard and increase the standard of our schools, in order to be among the best in the state, nation and the world at large,” he said.
