Kwara Govt Reiterates Commitment to Motorable Roads, As RTEAN Commission Secretariat

The Speaker, Kwara State House of Assembly, Right Honourable Yakubu Danladi-Salihu has reiterated the commitment of the Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq led administration to operation motorable roads across the three senatorial districts in the state.

Rt Hon Danladi-Salihu expressed this at the official commissioning of the Secretariat of the Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria, RTEAN in Ilorin.

The Speaker who also stood in for Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq at the event noted that the government is aware of the challenges facing the transport sector and they are being addressed one after the other, citing the ongoing massive road construction across the state as an example.

Right Honourable Danladi-Salihu said that the administration of Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq is committed to fixing dilapidated roads in the state which he said is very key to successful operations of the RTEAN and all other road users.

“our township roads are being built by the present administration so that taxi drivers and other road users can have ease when playing them, also roads at the border lane are also not left out across the state especially those in Kwara north and south”.

“Members of the RTEAN in Baruten Local Government are living witnesses to the laudable efforts of Governor Abdulrazaq in terms of infrastructural development where roads that had been abandoned for twenty years are now being fixed, the Ilesha road that connects Benin Republic among several others are also being opened up for the benefit of the road users”.

He gave an assurance that in the next two years of Governor AbdulRazaq in saddle, the present rate of infrastructural work would be doubled and many roads would be commissioned across the senatorial districts especially the Kwara north because of its peculiarity as a gateway to other states and country.

The Speaker while commending the RTEAN National President, Alhaji Muhammad Musa and Kwara State Chairman, Alhaji AbdulRahman Olayinka Onikijipa for projecting good image of the association and working with sister unions to contribute to national development pledged support of State House of Assembly to the Association.

Right Honourable Danladi-Salihu attended the program in company of member representing Ilorin East Hon Ali Jimoh and member representing Ilorin North-West Constituency, Hon AbdulGafar Ayinla Ayilara.

The Official Commissioning of the Secretariat of the Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria, Kwara State branch was witnessed by the Emir of Ilorin, Dr Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, Chief Imam of Ilorin, Dr Muhammad Bashir Solihu, former National President of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, Alhaji Najim Yasin, the first Makama of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Oniye among other dignitaries.
