It was a jubilation galore for the followers of the Immediate past Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki when he stormed Ilorin, kwara state capital at the weekend for the first time after the 2019 general election.
Saraki’s who is political followers besieged Ilorin International Airport to welcome him home.
The former 8 years Governor in Kwara State said to be at home purposely for the 8th year remembrance prayer of his late father, Olusola Saraki, popularly know as “Oloye” on Saturday, was giving standstill reception by his political followers who dressed in customized T-shirt and Face cap with inscriptions; “Saraki we love”, “o su wa”, “ABS-Saraki”.
The memorial prayer which held at the late Saraki’s residence at “Ile Arugbo” in Iloffa, G.R.A, Ilorin with serving minister for Transportation, Gbemisola Saraki, Senator Rafiu Ibrahim
the state chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Engr. Kola Shittu, and former Acting national chairman of the PDP, Alh Abubakar Kawu Baraje among others in attendance.
The prayer was led by the Chief Imam of Ilorin, Sheik Mohammed Bashir along with other clerics.
In his sermon at the event, Imam AbdulRazaq Aduagba urged people to shun bad publicity against Senator Bukola Saraki saying that Allah has His ways of controlling affairs of life.
“We can all see the difference in what happened before and what’s happening now in the political situation of Kwara. Our people, should therefore, change their ways to love one another. Let’s forgive ourselves and accept God’s ways. “, he admonished”
Meanwhile, All Progressive Congress, APC, which is a ruling party in the state has expressed worries over what he alleged as hoodlums attack at Ile Arugbo through its publicity secretary, Tajudeen Folaranmi Aro in a statement and photograph of wound people made available to the journalists at the weekend.
The statement reads in part “For the first time since Senator Bukola Saraki and his minions were overwhelmingly rejected by the people of Kwara State, our state again on Saturday recorded a sad reign of hoodlums at an event organised by the senator. This is sad and unacceptable. It is a reminder to the dark days of his inglorious reign in the state when he not only patronised hoodlums but he also placed them on government’s payroll, thereby legitimising thuggery,”
“It is of great concern that many people were injured as a result of the lawless conduct of Senator Saraki and his minions. For example, many innocent persons have been rushed to General Hospital after sustaining serious injuries from the reckless behaviour of his followers. We do not want such ugly development again in Kwara. We urge decent members of the society to call Senator Saraki and his followers to order.”
