Ondo govt introduces skill acquisition programmes into school curriculum

The Ondo state government has concluded plans to introduce skill acquisition tagged Multi Skills Teen-preneurship Programme (MSTP), in public secondary schools across the state to address critical needs within the education sector.

The programme aims at equipping secondary school students with multiple entrepreneurial skills for greater employability opportunities and self-reliance while undergoing their normal academic programmes.

The state Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Femi Agagu, stated this in Akure, Ondo state capital, when some Indian based organisation, Lend-A-Hand, pay him a visit in his office.

The commissioner stated that it will help the students understand the theoretical concepts they learn in the textbooks, their real-life applications, life advancement opportunities, as well as career equipping and preparatory knowledge for the future.

He added that the state government is set to achieve this through partnership with the Indian based organisation, Lend-A-Hand India (LAHA), with pilot project set to kick-start in some selected secondary schools across the three senatorial districts of the state.

While the commissioner advised students to key into the programme as beneficial and as an advantage to their future and careers in life.

He urged parents and guardians to give necessary support to their children and wards.

He added that there are various moves by the state government to reposition the educational sector in order to meet the current yearning for well-educated and technologically competent individuals. (Blueprint)
