One person have confirmed to sustain serious injury as result of clash between vigilante group and Fulani herdsmen in Oko, Obbo lle, Ekiti local government area of Kwara State.
Confirming the incident, the spokesperson of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) kwara command, Babawale Zaid Afolabi said the incident happened on Monday when some herdsmen armed with dangerous weapons ambushed men of the local vigilante who were on patrol around 2030pm.
The vigilante patrol team said to be patrolling along Obbo ile- Isapa axis when they were attacked with the herdsmen who left one of the vigilante team, Mashud Taye, with matchete cuts before disappeared into the bush.
Statement read in in part ” On Monday 22 November 2021, two armed herdsmen attacked a vigilante team of the Obbo ile community who were on a routine patrol and left one of them with a serious injury as a result of the matchete attacks.” He disclosed.
He explained further that efforts of the NSCDC operatives in Ekiti Divisional Office and the vigilante team yielded dividends as one of the assallants, Abdulkadir Ali Doogo, 23, from Omu Aran, was arrested and currently helping NSCDC in further investigations.
“The other herdsman is still at large and efforts are ongoing to capture them while the victim is responding to treatment in the hospital”
